If you've ever Googled laser treatments and come across terms like IPL, BBL, and Aerolase Neo and immediately thought "okay but what does any of that actually mean?"....yeah, me too! :)
These are three of the most commonly talked-about light and laser treatments in aesthetics, and they get lumped together a lot. But they're actually pretty different in how they work, what and who they're best for.
First: They're Not All Actually Lasers
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and BBL (BroadBand Light) are technically light-based treatments. Aerolase Neo is a true laser. Different technologies mean different strengths, different experiences, and different safety considerations.
IPL and BBL
IPL and BBL are commonly used for sun damage, redness, pigmentation, and overall brightening, and they can work really well for the right candidate.
That said, they do tend to create more heat in the skin, which means they may not be ideal for everyone. Treatments can sometimes involve more discomfort, more post-treatment redness, a temporary darkening of pigment before it flakes off, and stricter sun avoidance guidelines.
They're solid tools. They're just not the right tool for everyone.

Aerolase Neo
Aerolase Neo uses a 1064nm wavelength combined with ultra-fast 650-microsecond technology, which allows it to treat the skin in a fundamentally different way.
What stands out most: more comfortable treatments, minimal downtime, safe for a wider range of skin tones, effective for both acne and aging concerns, hair removal (and more!)Â and less aggressive on the skin barrier overall. Instead of heavily targeting only the surface, Aerolase can work deeper while remaining surprisingly gentle.
So Which One Is "Best"?
It depends on a few factors:Â
your skin tone
your concerns
your lifestyle
your goals
how much downtime you're willing to work with
There's no universal answer, and any provider worth trusting will tell you the same thing.
When we were choosing technology for the spa, we wanted something that aligned with how we think about skin: cell health first, graceful aging, inclusive options, and results that don't require unnecessary trauma to get there.
That's how we choose Aerolase Neo. We wanted a treatment that delivers real results while still respecting the skin.Â
